A time stamp is the automatic recording of date and time at each GPS point, receipt, or event. On mileage receipts three time stamps matter: trip start, trip end, and PDF generation. Strong evidence of contemporaneousness in audits — a receipt generated within hours of the trip is more reliable than reconstruction weeks later.
