A mileage cap is the maximum reimbursable distance set by company policy: per trip (e.g., 200 km), per day (e.g., 400 km), or per month (e.g., 3,000 km). Beyond the cap, the employee needs special approval. Caps protect the budget, discourage detours, and force review of long trips.
