Battery-only vehicle without an internal-combustion engine.
An EV (electric vehicle) or BEV (battery electric vehicle) runs on battery alone, no internal-combustion engine. "Fuel" cost (electricity) runs 60%–80% lower than gasoline per km, but initial depreciation is steeper. Some jurisdictions use an EV-specific reimbursement rate (HMRC: 7p/mile for EVs vs 45p for ICE) reflecting the lower energy cost.
